Prince Harry“He’s a humble, honest man who blends in like any other veteran, which makes him deserving of the Pat Tillman Service Award… a former recipient tells us amid outrage over ESPN’s decision to honor the royal.

US Navy Jake Woodwho won the award in 2018, told TMZ that veterans who have interacted with Prince Harry as part of his Invictus Games efforts say he is as real as they come. “There’s no air of superiority… he just wants to sit down, swap war stories and make sure everyone is taken care of,” he said.

In Jake’s eyes, there’s no doubt that Harry’s down-to-earth nature, coupled with the fact that he’s dedicated much of his post-military life to veterans, makes him more worthy of this award.

Jake also points out that Harry, being a member of the royal family, could have chosen a hundred other paths in life, but he chose to serve his country with two tours in Afghanistan – that choice, he says, speaks volumes.

Ultimately, Jake says people should separate Harry’s controversial status from his true service to his country and support for military veterans around the world… because who better to honor than someone who did the right thing?

But not everyone shares Jake’s sentiment. Remember Pat’s mother, Marie Tillmantriggered the drama in criticize ESPN for deciding to honor “a controversial and divisive individual” at this month’s ESPY Awards.

It seems that all this is causing a split at every level – that of ESPN itself Pat McAfee is on Mary’s side…while Tillman Award winner U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Israel Del Toro Jr. is fully prepared for Harry to take the honour.
