Prince Harry could see King Charles on Invictus’ birthday

Earlier this week, speculation swirled that King Charles would not be able to see his son, Prince Harry, during his trip to London to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games. However, according to ITV News editor Chris Ship, the king would “likely find a gap” in his schedule to welcome Harry. Although the event is scheduled to take place on May 8, the Mirror notes that there is still no confirmation as to which royals will join Harry at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.

“At some point, they’re going to discover a gap in the king’s calendar,” Ship said. “When he comes, he’ll probably see his father.”

According to The telegraph, onOn Wednesday, (Charles) will have his weekly audience with the Prime Minister before hoping to attend the first garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace. The rest of Charles’ week is filled with vague things like “dates and commitments,” so there is hope that a meeting can happen.

“It’s going to be very difficult for Harry to come to the UK and not visit his father, King Charles,” added royal expert Tom Quinn.

Quinn also assured royal fans that if a meeting did take place, it would likely last longer than a quick 30-minute chat. He notes that Camilla will likely also be present for the father-son reunion.

“When the two meet, it will definitely be a longer meeting than the last time father and son only spent 30 minutes together, but Camilla will probably be there simply because she feels very protective of her husband and doesn’t I wouldn’t want him to be upset at such a difficult time,” Quinn said. “Plus, despite much that has been written, Camila is exceptionally diplomatic and good at handling difficult situations and people. If anyone can comfortably handle a meeting with Harry, Camilla can – which is why Charles will want let her be there.”

Quinn added that Charles sincerely wanted to make time for Harry, saying the king “won’t want to be seen avoiding his son even if the meeting is awkward and difficult.”

“Like William, Charles makes it a point to always appear generous and magnanimous. He is aware that this contrasts well with his often irritable son,” Quinn said. “Charles and Harry know everyone will be watching to see if they meet and neither wants to be blamed for rejecting the other.”

It’s also unclear if Harry will have the chance to visit his brother William – or if he wants to. THE Mirror adds that a discussion is “unlikely”. The two have become estranged not only since Harry’s move to America, but also following his memoir, Spare. Meghan Markle will also not make the trip to the UK, although she will join Harry on a visit to Nigeria after the Invictus anniversary.
