Prince FrederikWho was the youngest son of the prince and the princess of Nassau, died following a battle against a disease.
His father, Prince Robert of Luxembourg announced that his son died in early March from the rare genetic condition of the mitochondrial disease which “deprives the energy cells of the body, in turn causing a dysfunction and a failure of the progressive organs”, according to the POLG Foundation. It was diagnosed with the condition at the age of 14.
His father said in the press release … “Last Friday February 28, during the” rare disease day “, our beloved son called us in his room to speak to him one last time. Frederik has found the strength and courage to say goodbye to each of us in turn … After having offered each of us our farewells – a kind, a little wise, a little informative – like Frederik, he left us collectively with a last long -standing family joke. »»
He says that Prince Frederik died with his family by his side adding … “Even in his last moments, his humor and his unlimited compassion, forced him to leave us with a last laugh … to encourage us all.”
He leaves behind his father, his mother Princess Julie de NassauHis brother, Alexanderhis sister, Charlottehis three cousins, Tank,, LouisAnd Doninghis brother-in-law, Ledand his aunt Charlotte and uncle Brand.
Prince Frederick was 22 years old.
