Primož Roglič (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) abandoned the 2025 Giro d’ItaliaWith another crash during stage 16 soaked in rain forcing him to end his offer for a second overall title.
In an off -camera incident, Roglič would have redrawn on damp roads near Trento, while the scene entered its 100 km. TNT SPORTS Then Live reported that the winner of Giro in 2023 went up in the team car.
Slovenian continued to start the dayAfter losing a lot of time on stage 15, and his team confirmed before Monday’s rest day that the effects of several accidents had seen him far from his best.
Roglič had started the Giro as one of the global favorites, but crashed during scene 9, the time trial in Pisa, the mass incident on Saturday, and Tuesday Brutal Mountain Stage in Trentin.
He had already started the day in a bad place, after not having bicycle on the day, but this additional accident was the final straw of the Giro in 2025 of Roglič.
Global competitor Richard Carapaz (EF Education-Estypost) and the winner of stage 15 Carlos Verona (Lidl-Trek) were also taken in the many falls on a first half of the stage soaked in rain, but the two were able to continue.
Later, Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers) was taken in an accident in the peloton with some 70 kilometers to go when his cape broke with one of his wheels. He could however quickly find contact with the peloton.
This is the first time that Roglič has to abandon the Giro of Italia. He had to leave the Tour de France three times as a result of accidents, more recently in 2024 and the Vuelta A España Once, in 2022.
