President Trump’s budget for exercise 26 revitalizes the exploration of human space

On Friday, the Trump-Vance Administration published toplines of the President’s budget for the financial year 2026. The budget accelerates the human space exploration of the moon and of March with a portfolio of fiscally responsible missions.

“This proposal includes investments to simultaneously continue the exploration of the moon and Mars while prioritizing the critical research of science and technology,” said the interim administrator of NASA, Janet Petro. “I appreciate the president’s continuous support for the NASA mission and I can’t wait to work in close collaboration with the administration and the congress to ensure that we continue to progress towards the realization of the impossible.”

  • Increased commitment to the exploration of human space in the continuation of the exploration of the moon and Mars. By allocating more than $ 7 billion to lunar exploration and by having a billion dollars of new investments for programs focused on March, the budget guarantees that the exploration efforts of the human space in America remain unrivaled, innovative and efficient.
  • Repocus science and spatial technological resources to effectively perform high priority research. In accordance with the administration’s priority to return to the moon before China and put an American on Mars, the budget will advance the missions and projects of priority science and research, ending financially unbearable programs, including the return of the samples of March. It emphasizes investments in transformative space technologies while deploying in a responsible manner of projects better suited to the leadership of the private sector.
  • Translate the Artemis campaign to a more sustainable and profitable approach to lunar exploration. The SLS (Space Launch System) rocket and the Orion capsule will be removed after Artemis III, opening the way to more profitable and new generation commercial systems that will support the lunar missions of subsequent NASA. The budget also ends the Gateway program, with the possibility of reusing components already produced for use in other missions. International partners will be invited to join these renewed efforts, expanding significant collaboration opportunities on the Moon and Mars.
  • Continue the process of transitioning the international space station to commercial replacements in 2030, focusing on board research on essential efforts to exploration from the moon and Mars. The budget reflects the upcoming transition to an open and more profitable commercial approach to human activities in low terrestrial orbit by reducing the size of the space station crew and research on board, preparing the resort’s safe downgrading and its replacement by commercial space stations.
  • Works to minimize the duplication of efforts and most effectively manage the distribution of dollars from American taxpayers. This budget guarantees that the head of NASA allows financially sustainable trajectory to carry out revolutionary research and execute the bold mission of the agency.
  • Focus on NASA’s resources on its main spatial exploration mission. This budget ends “green aviation” expenses focused on the climate while protecting the development of technologies with air traffic control and other applications of the American and commercial government, producing savings. This budget will also ensure the continuous elimination of any funding towards the initiatives of Deia ill -aligned, rather designating this money to the missions capable of advancing the main mission of NASA. NASA will continue to inspire the next generation of explorers thanks to exciting and ambitious space missions that demonstrate American leadership in space.

NASA will coordinate closely with its partners to execute these priorities and investments as effectively and effectively as possible.

Based on the president’s promise to increase the efficiency that the pioneering budget a targeted, innovative and fiscally responsible path to the next major era of the exploration of the human space of America.
