Pregnant Kerala woman taken to hospital 3km away on makeshift stretcher

Thiruvananthapuram:
A pregnant tribal woman from Kadukumanna village in Palakkad district of Kerala has been taken by her relatives to hospital on a makeshift stretcher.
According to the sources, the pregnant woman, identified as Sumanthi Murukan, was seeing doctors at Kottathara Tribal Specialty Hospital and her delivery was scheduled for next week.
But Sumathi went into labor overnight from Saturday to Sunday. His relatives called an ambulance but it could not reach the village because the road was damaged.
Sumathi’s parents took her in a temporary stretcher and walked three and a half kilometers through the forest to the main road. From there, Sumathi was taken to hospital in an ambulance.
