Saturday night’s Powerball numbers were supposed to have been drawn at 11 p.m., but the numbers were still pending at 11:30 p.m.
Powerball said in a statement that the delay was due to a participating lottery needing “additional time to complete the required pre-draw procedures, which have been adopted to protect the security and integrity of the game Powerball.
Every ticket sold nationwide must be checked against two different computer systems before the numbers are drawn, Powerball said.
This process ensures that every ticket has been considered and gives each game an equal chance of winning.
“Tonight we have a jurisdiction that needs more time to complete this pre-draw process.”
