Possible cyberattack causes outages at Port of Seattle, Sea-Tac Airport

The Port of Seattle said some internet and web-based systems were affected and there was no expected time frame for repair.

SEATTLE — The Port of Seattle, which includes Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, is experiencing outages that may have been caused by a cyberattack, port officials said Saturday.

Outages impact Internet and web systems.

“Earlier this morning, the Port of Seattle experienced some system outages indicating a possible cyberattack,” according to a post on X. “The port has isolated critical systems and is currently working to restore full service. We do not have an estimated time frame for recovery.”

Passengers may experience some disruptions, such as long queues and delays at baggage checks or ticket counters.

Port of Seattle officials did not immediately provide additional information about the cyberattack.

Anyone traveling through Sea-Tac Airport is advised to check in with their airline for up-to-date information. SEA officials also suggest loading your mobile boarding pass onto your phone and checking in your checked bags through your airline’s app before arriving at the airport.
