Portsmouth vs Derby League One title clash is briefly halted after fox runs onto pitch

Portsmouth’s League One title clash with Derby was unexpectedly halted due to a fox running onto the pitch.

Pompey are top of the table and the Rams are behind in second, with the match being one of the most important of the entire season.

However, a mouth-watering battle at Fratton Park was interrupted during the first half when a little fox made an unlikely appearance.

Derby were in possession at the time, but the little mammal ran along the goal line in front of the Fratton End.

Its onset seemed rapid, with play eventually resuming in windy and wet conditions on the south coast.

Joe Ward put Derby ahead on the break in the 23rd minute, but Abu Kamara hit back moments later to make it 1-1.

The visitors regained the lead as half-time approached, however, with Ward finding the net with an excellent low strike.

His appearance was enough to briefly interrupt the action.
