The Japanese restaurant channel Sukiya will temporarily close almost all 2,000 branches after a rat was found in a Miso soup and an insect in another meal, the company announced on Saturday.
Sukiya, famous for her beef bowls, apologized in a statement saying insect contamination in one of his Tokyo restaurants on Friday, two months after the rat incident in another branch.
“Sukiya has decided to temporarily close all restaurants, with the exception of certain stores in shopping centers, from March 31 to April 4 in order to take measures against pests and vermin,” he said.
Sukiya said measures had been taken to tackle cracks in the affected branch that could cause contamination, BBC reported.
The fast food company has approximately 1,970 stores across Japan.
The Nikkei Business Daily said that its shops in shopping centers are also closed as soon as the arrangements are taken with the facilities.
