Pope Francis continues to improve to Casa Santa Marta

During a briefing on the health of the Pope, the press office revealed that Pope Francis continues to show clinical improvements while he is recovering at his residence in Casa Santa Marta, after his hospitalization for a polymicrobial infection that resulted in bilateral pneumonia.

The Holy Father was released from the Gemelli Hospital in Rome with a “protected discharge” on Sunday, March 23.

The state of Pope Francis has shown slight respiratory improvements, mobility and voice, noted the press office.

Recent blood tests also indicate a slight improvement in its pulmonary infection.

The Holy Father continued its treatment and mobility and physiotherapy linked to breathing; It also needs less additional oxygen. During the day, it continues with ordinary oxygen administration, while at night it continues with high speed oxygenation with nasal cannulas if necessary.

In addition, Pope Francis continues his work activities and is in a good mood, said the press office.

Friday morning, the Holy Father followed the meditation of Lent held in the Paul VI room of the Vatican, owned by the preacher of the Papal House, Father Roberto Pasolini, Ofm Cap, via a video link.

On Wednesday, the pope followed the mass of the Saint-Pierre basilica presided over by the Secretary of State of the Vatican, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the death of Saint John Paul II.

The press office noted that there had been no visits to note, adding that it is still too early to discuss the Pope’s participation in the liturgies of Holy Week.
