Police suspect arson after fire damages USPS vehicles in Morton Grove – NBC Chicago

Authorities in the suburb of Morton Grove say several post office vehicles were deliberately set on fire early Sunday morning.

Authorities say the fire occurred at the United States Postal Service premises in the 9100 block of Waukegan Road at around 3:20 a.m.

Firefighters and police responded to the scene for a fire at the rear of the building, which damaged several USPS vehicles and other property.

A preliminary investigation found the fire appeared to have been deliberately set, and Morton Grove authorities requested assistance from the United States Postal Inspection Service, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Illinois State Fire Marshal and Fire Marshal to investigate the fire.

No injuries were reported and authorities do not believe any mail was damaged or stolen in the incident.
