Police investigate after 3 dead in 2 separate shootings in Oakland within 45 minutes

OAKLAND, Calif. — Police are investigating after two shootings claimed the lives of three people within 45 minutes in Oakland on Monday night.

Gunfire erupted outside a grocery store on the corner of Telegraph Avenue and 31st Street at 7:45 p.m.

Three people were injured and two of the victims died at the scene.

The third person was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

45 minutes later, police were called to the intersection of East 20th Street and 23rd Avenue in East Oakland.

There they found a person with gunshot wounds on the sidewalk.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Police said homicide investigators are investigating both shootings.
