Jonesboro, GA. (AP) – The Georgia and Florida police and aptly sought a convicted killer who was wrongly released from a county prison in the south of Atlanta, the authorities announced.
Kathan Guzman, who was at the beginning of the twenty, admitted to strangling his girlfriend, Delila Grayson, 19, who was found dead in a bathtub in August 2022, according to the County Police of Clayton, in Georgia.
Guzman was released about two weeks ago, when prison employees released him by mistake after not having read the documents, said the Sheriff of County Clayton, Levon Allen in WSB-TV. Employees did not see that Guzman had been found guilty of murder and strangling assault and had been sentenced to life imprisonment, the sheriff said.
Allen said the authorities think he may have returned to Osceola, Florida, south of Orlando.
This is where the mother of the victim lives, Christina Grayson. She is terrified that Guzman comes after the family for their role in the trial, reports WFTV-TV. Her family sleeps in quarters so that someone is awake at any time, she told Orlando station.
“I feel like I am a sitting duck,” she said.
The deputies of the County of Osceola patrol its neighborhood as research continues, she said.
“Our deputies are aware of the situation and are in contact with the Georgia authorities,” said the Sheriff’s office in Osceola in a press release. “Our main objective remains the security of our community.”
Guzman told someone after his wrong release that “God is good” and that he believes that it was the result of a higher power, said the Sheriff of Clayton in WSB.
