Police chase reaches electrifying conclusion

Police pursuits can be intense, but the stakes are even higher when officers are pursuing an armed suspect who has a history of violence against the public. That’s what precedes this chase involving Michigan State Police and a suspect in a GMC Acadia.

Somehow, a suspect was unhurt after his car flipped six times and he was thrown from the wreck.

If you’re thinking this glorified soccer mom SUV isn’t a great getaway vehicle, well you’re right. For some reason, the guy inside thought that was good enough before robbing another guy at gunpoint, even going so far as to fire a bullet into the air to show that he was serious.

This fluid movement must really be putting the MSP soldiers on edge, which is understandable. But they didn’t really have to fear since this suspect committed suicide. Unfortunately, he also removed an MSP unit.

As the chase winds its way through Buena Vista Township, as you can see in the dashcam footage, the suspect seems to think his grocery getaway car can do anything on imperfect road surfaces .

If you are a particularly attentive person, you will notice that when crossing certain intersections, the road is curved or slopes on both sides. Usually it’s no big deal, but when this guy goes through a red light without slowing down, going well over the speed limit, he very quickly discovers that GMC isn’t very good at flying and is even worse at sticky landings.

This is where things go wrong, literally, the Acadia strafing left after taking off, crashing into an MSP cruiser and then into a utility pole. It’s an electrifying conclusion that has messy consequences as live wires sit on top of both vehicles.

What makes things even more complicated are the many people invading the area. While the first woman to rush in says she’s a registered nurse and asks if she can help, others just stand there to gape. It’s like people don’t understand the danger of live wires.
