A murder investigation has been launched after a young man was killed following a double stabbing in east London on Saturday morning.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 1.30am to an address in Rothwell Gardens where a man had suffered a stab wound.

Their initial investigations led them to find a second man with serious stab wounds near Flamstead Road.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the second man, aged 23, died instantly.

Police believe they know the identity of the deceased man and an investigation is underway to inform his family.

The other man, whose life is not in danger, has been released from the hospital.

He was arrested as part of the investigation and remains in police custody.
