PM Modi says India will become world’s third largest economy in third term

At a post-Budget 2024 event of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated on July 30 that in his third term, India will become the world’s third largest economy.

Addressing industry leaders, he said that India is today the fifth largest economy in the world and the day is not far when it will be the third largest. “I had promised that in my third term, the country will become the third largest economy in the world.”

“When we came to power in 2014, the biggest question was how to bring the economy back on track. The situation was fragile before 2014, there were scams worth hundreds of crores of rupees. We have taken the Indian economy out of a very sensitive situation. The last budget of Dr Manmohan Singh government in 2013-14 was worth Rs 160 crore and today the budget amount is Rs 680 crore,” PM Modi said.
