Plymouth man arrested for suspected attack outside Faneuil Hall

A Plymouth man has been arrested after he allegedly attacked and seriously injured a 68-year-old man outside Faneuil Hall early on Sunday morning.
Robert Buckley, 43, was posted on $2,000 cash bond, WHDH reported. He was indicted on Monday for assault and battery on a person over 60 years of age causing serious bodily harm. A judge ordered Buckley to stay away from the victim and the JJ Donovan Tavern. The incident is said to have happened outside this restaurant, which is next to Faneuil Hall.
The victim had been out celebrating a family holiday with loved ones when the attack happened, WCVB reported. He was brought to Massachusetts General Hospital with a serious neck injury. The injury could impact the victim for the rest of his life, the station reported. The victim also had a deep gash on his forehead that will require plastic surgery, Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden reportedly said.
“It’s tragic that this innocent man is celebrating with his family and suddenly finds himself on the ground with injuries that could impact the rest of his life, and tragic that this all happened in front of his family,” he said. Hayden said in a statement. WCVB.
Family members and security guards told police following the attack that the perpetrator was accompanied by another man and fled to Congress Street, WCVB reported.
Police found Buckley and witnesses identified him as the alleged attacker, WHDH reported. The person with Buckley apparently wasn’t involved.
