Playmakers in space before the pads light up; more stock in stock, stock down – The Denver Post

The Miami Dolphins had one last practice without full leggings on Monday before training camp starts to get physical on Tuesday.

And the Dolphins playmakers have found plenty of room before the potential shift in practice tone once the players are padded and tackled to the ground.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had back-to-back connections with his combination of star wide receivers from Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle where they caught the through ball at intermediate depth in midfield with room to run into the end zone .

Earlier in the same part of practice, which involved attacking from the 40-yard line of defense, Tagovailoa hit rookie Erik Ezukanma deep in the right sideline for a touchdown entirely in the air. .

The running backs have also found space. Myles Gaskin had a pair of gaping holes open on runs through the middle. Chase Edmonds had something open for him on the left side, although left tackle Terron Armstead did not participate in the team’s practice games. Even 2021 seventh-round pick Gerrid Doaks made a sizable gain on the right side.

The Dolphins defensemen will certainly be eager to face their offensive teammates in upcoming practices. Even then, there were instances where the defense held firm: Melvin Ingram had a quick save; Zach Sieler and John Jenkins combined to fill another run down the middle; Brennan Scarlett had another and Calvin Munson recorded a tackle for loss on ZaQuandre White.

Tagovailoa also threw an interception late in practice for cornerback Trill Williams, catching him one-handed.

Trill Williams dropped his second interception of training camp with his one-handed shot on Monday against Tagovailoa. He previously had a six pick against Bridgewater. The undrafted sophomore who made the team as a rookie last season is making the most of his opportunities with Howard and Byron Jones not involved in the 11-on-11 work.

Out of stock

Mike Gesicki hasn’t been heavily involved as a passing target through five practices, which must call into question his role in this new offense as Hill and Waddle see so much work. Gesicki was covered by Holland in a 1v1 which Holland broke up in the end zone.

injury report

Bridgewater (undisclosed) was limited to practice on Monday and did not kick off team drills. Center Michael Deiter (foot) and defensive lineman Adam Butler (undisclosed) remained on the sidelines. Full-back John Lovett was also held off with an undisclosed injury.

Left tackle Terron Armstead was in practice in positional drills but did not participate in team matches. Running back Raheem Mostert and full-back Alec Ingold wore red shirts in training.
