Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) can confirm their participation in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) Qualifiers with victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) when the two teams face off at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai in the evening game on Sunday 15 may.

LSG are currently in second place in the IPL 2022 points table with 16 points from 12 games while RR are just behind them in third place with 14 points.

Trent Boult (2/30) and Yuzvendra Chahal (4/41) then played superbly to limit LSG to 162/8 while Marcus Stoinis (38 from 17 balls) played a blinder as he threatened to withdraw the game but ultimately below 3 points.

LSG come into this match having been knocked out of first place in a massive 62 point loss to Gujarat Titans. Avesh Khan (2/26) played well to help limit GT to 144/4. However, LSG’s batting order collapsed in the chase as they could only reach 82 before being knocked out.

Lucknow will be eager to bounce back from this loss and gain confidence as they prepare for the knockout stage.

RR comes into this game after a complete loss as they lost to Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin (50 from 38 balls) scored his first IPL fifty and Devdutt Padikkal (48 from 30 balls) also performed well but the other hitters failed to start as they could only post 160/6.

Trent Boult struck at first to return Srikar Bharat on a duck, but then a 144-point partnership between David Warner and Mitchell Marsh took the game away from the Royals.

A defeat for the Royals will leave them vulnerable to the chasing pack, with Delhi fighting hard to stay alive and the side led by Sanju Samson will want to seal the two points to put some distance between the sides.

LSG v RR Team News:

News from the LSG team: Lucknow debuted Karan Sharma in the last game but the hitter failed to make an impact as he came back with just 4 runs. LSG might give him another chance as they need a bit more batting firepower.

News from the RR team: Shimron Hetmyer missed the final match as he returned to Guyana for the birth of his child. The power hitter is also expected to be out for this game with Rassie van der Dussen coming to take his place.

LSG vs RR pitch ratio: The Brabourne stadium track was great for the batting with Punjab reaching 209/9 in the last game. The last three games on the site have all been won by the team that strikes first and captains will be eager to put a big score on the board.

Where to watch live: The match begins at 7:30 p.m. IST on Sunday, May 15, with the draw scheduled for 7:00 p.m. IST. The match will be broadcast live on the Star Sports Network. Viewers can also tune in to the action via Disney+ Hotstar.

Best Bowling Picks: Yuzvendra Chahal has seen the Purple Cap snatched from its grasp by Wanindu Hasaranga and the RR spinner will be keen to return to the top of the bowling rankings by adding to his impressive run of 23 wickets this season.
