Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) was supposed to lose her virginity against Zion (Nicholas Duvernay) on his return from the monastery, but Mike White decided to cut the script scene. “(Piper) decides to lose his virginity in the script in the last episode,” said White. “There is all this scene where she says to herself:” It’s true. Saxon is right on this one thing. I need to finish this with “… after leaving the monastery, she is just like” I need to have sex “. While the two characters never interact in the final version of the season, Piper was initially supposed to come out Zion during his final breakfast.
In the end, however, White decided that the scene was simply too much to get around, especially since it would have added about ten minutes to the already sour episode. Theatically, this also brought too much from a “Rom-Com atmosphere” to the procedure when the Ratliff scenario which was closer to the end of the family annihilation of the Specter.
“I just felt like I was trying to do too much narrative,” concluded White. There will be more time for Piper to have sex after the light if the family has enough money to go back on vacation.
