Pierce Brosnan on James Bond, theory of “Mamma Mia 3”

(This story contains major spoilers of the final of the season a Mobland))

Even in prison, Conrad Harrigan remains the working ankle.

After the penultimate episode of Mobland When Maeve (Helen Mirren) and Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) were arrested for murder and returned to prison, Conrad receives a warm welcome to finish the first season Primordial+ criminal thriller. The last scene in the final, which released on Sunday, showed all the prisoners who encourage him because he has now won respect for criminals in the world of crowds.

In an interview about the final of season one, Brosnan said The Hollywood Reporter This scene was “a cinematographic tribute” to the 1968 film Italian work and filmed in the former prison prison prison; He said that being in the “powerful Victorian Tomblike presence” where Oscar Wilde was imprisoned “was quite memorable”.

While his professional status still holds from prison, the knives find themselves more deeply in the Harrigan family. After Kevin Harrigan (Paddy Considine) discovered that Conrad did not know that the real family rat was O’Hara (Lisa Dwan), instead of Archie (Alex Jennings), and that Kevin’s son, Eddie (Anson Boon), is in fact the son of his father, Conrad, he loses all the respect of the Harrigan and threatens to resume their world.

The final is filled with more pivotal moments, as when the largest enemy in the clan, Richie Stevenson was killed by Kevin, the new potential leader. But the big cliffhanger came when Harry, the fixer Harrigan Played by Tom HardyHas accidentally been stabbed by his wife during an argument in the kitchen – ending with Harry seated playing cool, calm and collected.

Below, Brosnan discusses the final with THRwhile also speaking of the future of James Bond – To say Hardy would make a “wonderful” advance – old discussions on a Remington Steele Revival and revealing that he actually knows the answer to that Mamma Mia! Papa theory that has persisted for years.

There are times in Mobland When Conrad expresses more empathy than others from the Harrigan family – as during Tommy’s funeral, when he and Maeve react very differently. Do you think there is a softer side of Conrad that we do not see?

Most certainly. He is a man who comes from a very broken environment, more than probably abuse, sexual abuse, violence, disgust of oneself … without fear, courageous. It is also a sentimentalist. He is Irish. He likes the old gargater – gargling being alcohol. He is filled with great humor and passion and deep pride to be an Irishman, but he is also a father and someone who has a pride and what he did by his family. So I think there is a sweetness for him. There is a human nucleus of emotion mixed with brutality, which it cannot control. He is definitely dislocated.

There were times when it looked like Maeve and Conrad’s marriage could crack. Do you see that it happens? Or should they stay together for business?

Oh, I think they have to stay together. These two will fall together. I really don’t know where it’s okay. I don’t know. I have some images and sensations of the character, which are very violent images because violence is what makes him so intoxicating and he comes out of nowhere. And they are all like these bottled spiders who are so toxic to nature and we love them for that. (Laughter))

Why did Maeve and Conrad sang together when they were arrested?

It is a great “f- you” at the establishment, to the British, to the coppers, to the police in England. They are Irish, they live in the heart of Cotswolds. They have money. No one approaches them. So they know they’re going to go out, and they love it. They have already been inside. Conrad has had time. He knows this world. He knows how to control this world in the prison holder.

In the end, Kevin and Conrad’s relationship seems irreparable. Do you think it could save him?

I would like to think that we are going to recover things. I have not yet seen the last episode. My wife and one of our sons who stayed with us looked at him the other evening. He returned home to Los Angeles, and Keely, my wife, said: “Would it not be wonderful to make the company send us a link (before it was broadcast)?” And they did it, but we couldn’t work on television. I have absolutely no idea how to mirror (visualization). So I’m going to look at when he leaves like the rest of the country. (Note: We talked before the broadcast of the Sunday episode.)

Well, I did not see him coming that Harry would be accidentally stabbed by his wife. Will he go well? What if Harry never dies, how could harrigans manage without him?

I don’t think Harry will die. Harry is the backbone of the room. Without him, I don’t know if Conrad or Maeve could work. He holds so many secrets and has such insight to each person. But we waited as the season drove when we turned; As an actor, we didn’t know where he was going. I never talked to Guy Richie or the management writers we were going to go. So every time I had an episode, it was a revelation for me that was always in the photo, which was always standing.

What most shocked you the most?

Richie comes out of the photo. I love Geoff Bell. He is an actor and a magnificent character. Brendan, my son, being overwhelmed, locked his head. Daniel Betts, who played the character Brendan, him and Tom Hardy And I was taught by the same teachers. So I was looking forward to going out with Daniel much more. But then his character disappeared.

The final scene shows all the prisoners encouraging Conrad. Can you explain why it was important to end the season with this scene and what it meant for you?

Well, it meant that I am still alive and that I am still alive for a second season. It is a great tribute to Conrad, but it is also a cinematographic tribute to Italian work, What is a film directed by Michael Caine and Christmas loose played The Kingpin. In the film, you will see Christmas Coward going to the portico of the prison applauded by the prisoners. We turned it in Reading Gaol, the last tortuous and humiliating place where Oscar Wilde was a prisoner for two years in forced labor. It is a powerful Victorian presence Tomblike. So it was quite memorable to film there a cold Thursday afternoon. We repeated the scene; Conrad comes out of the cell; He does not know if he will be attacked or thrown from the balcony, and they applaud him. He returns. I said to Anthony Byrne, the director: “Why don’t we have the sympathy of the stone for the devil?” So we played this music and the place broke out.

Tom Hardy Previously told me: “The plan is certainly to see more seasons” of MOBLAND. Has there been more discussions about it? What would you like to see then for Conrad?

Yes, we talked about it and I would really like to see more seasons. There is a lot of life (laughs) and death within this family and these scenarios. People love these kinds of characters, especially when they are so beautifully rendered by playwrights like Ronan Bennett and Jez Butterworth. And when you have a set out like us, which is so strong, so powerful. Of course, I would like to go there for a second season.

Honestly, I didn’t think much about the place where I would like to see Conrad leaving. I just have images, wave sensations at the moment. It was a very intense shoot. Guy Richie called me last July here in Hawaii, where I live, and he sent me the five episodes of Ronan Bennett, I said: “Yes”, and I just jumped. There was no one else on the ticket. Helen and me worked this summer on a show called Thursday Murder Club, Who arrives, and she said, “Are you going to do Mobland?“I said,” Yeah, I want to do it. I want to return to England. I want to see my family here. I want to work in London. And she read it and she said, “I’m there.” So it was wonderful.

Your 007 point of view is timeless and so many people have connected to this franchise and are excited for the Next turn on it. Who would you choose to play the next link?

I have no choice. I will leave it open to the powers in place. It’s a very exciting moment in the story of James Bond. Now that Barbara (Broccoli) and Michael (G. Wilson, former franchise producers) have abandoned the reins.

How do you think your Mobland The co-star Tom Hardy would do?

Oh! (Laughter) Tom would be wonderful. There are so many great actors who could represent this character. I have no idea who, I have no idea. I want anyone a great success. You you.

Since studios and networks are now eager to relive, have you already thought or has been approached by managers for a Remington Steele awakening?

They raised it in the discussions, yes. Nothing has been done on this. So I left it’s just sitting there.

I know you said you are ready for Mum Mia 3. Could you end the debate and share who you think that Sophie’s biological father is?

I think you will have to wait for the next film. I think that leaving that one. I know who is, but I don’t want to be a Killjoy.
