The roof of the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo collapsed in the early hours of Tuesday morning with at least 300 people inside.
The collapse occurred during a representation of the artist of Merengue Rubby Pérez and his orchestra, the authorities said. Pérez’s body was recovered on the scene on Wednesday morning, the emergency services said. Two former major leagues baseball players are also among the victims.
On Wednesday, an official declaration of operations in the country’s emergency center said that “all the reasonable possibilities of finding more survivors” had been exhausted and that the operation is now focusing on the recovery of organizations.
