Phillies shake the enclosure of the lifts, rotation in the hope of repairing the pitch holes

Philadelphia – One day after granting 17 points, the Phillies reorganized their rotation and enclosure on Sunday morning as they try to solve certain purne problems from the interior.

The Phillies will move Taijuan Walker to a role of configuring a round for the first time during his 13 -year career while reintegrating the perspective Mick Abel in rotation. In addition, they removed the right veteran José Ruiz from the mixture by designating it for assignment and added Seth Johnson, hard launch to the enclosure of the lifts.

There could be time for greater changes closer to the commercial deadline on July 31. But, for the moment, the phillies will draw internal levers and see what is happening.

More than anything, the enclosure of the lifters needed a boost.

“Yeah, I think yes,” said Phillies manager Rob Thomson. “I have a lot of confidence in all these guys. But I think Tai is lucky to make us much better to get out of the pen. ”

Abel, 23, impressed the phillies with his Stellar beginnings with large leagues last month. He will have at least two departures in the majors – Thursday at the Blue Jays de Toronto, then at home against the Cubs of Chicago – while Aaron Nola continues his recovery of a crimped right ankle. The phillies expect it to come back in mid-June.

Whenever Walker has launched the enclosure of the lifts, he was a long man. Phillies plan to fulfill a more crucial role this time. They were intrigued by his two appearances of the enclosure of the lifts in early May before he fell back into the rotation to replace Nola. It will require significant adjustments because Walker is used for a defined routine. He never launched the consecutive days.

He must be attenuated in this role. Whether it works – Walker has never been a guy with huge swing -and -miss things – remains to be seen.

“It’s a pro,” said Thomson. “It is really. I am sure that he is not 100% happy. I think he always considers himself as a starter. But he is a pro. And I think he is a guy who will do everything to help the team.”

“If I have a round to explode it, anything, I have the impression that my things would play a little more,” said Walker last week. “Knowing that I have a round, let it eat.”

Ruiz, 30, spent 13 months with the phillies after joining them on a minor league contract in November 2023. He was a solid average relief in 2024 which won more confidence later in the season, but had trouble in high -level places. The Phillies presented a contract by wage arbitration to him; Ruiz won $ 1.23 million in 2025. He had an MPM of 8.16 in 14 1/3 innings this season with 21 strokes authorized. If he erases the derogations, Ruiz can refuse an assignment to minors, elect the free agency and keep his salary.

The phillies could have shrunk Max Lazar or torn off Carlos Hernández from the list. But Ruiz has not been effective for months; Hernández throws stronger, so the phillies will continue to try Hernández on Ruiz.

“All the other guys are just a little better,” said Thomson. “That’s all.”
