Philippines: tropical storm kills at least 19


MANILA, Philippines – A tropical storm in the Philippines has killed at least 19 people, disaster response officials said Thursday.

Authorities in the Philippines said they are still investigating 11 more deaths that may have been caused by Tropical Storm Kompasu, which triggered landslides and flash floods as it swept through the northern tip of the Asian islands. – Peaceful Monday.

14 other people were reported missing in the Philippines.

Kompasu was also killed in Hong Kong as he reached typhoon strength as he crossed the sea south of the Chinese city on Wednesday.

Kompasu returned to tropical storm force after making landfall over China’s island province of Hainan and weakened further as it headed out to sea and into northern Vietnam on Thursday, with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles an hour.

Authorities are still investigating an incident in which 11 people died in a landslide that may have been triggered by Tropical Storm Kompasu on October 12, 2021.
