Philadelphia Fans Boo Bruce Springsteen When He Sings About Giants – NBC10 Philadelphia

Bruce Springsteen made his triumphant return to Philadelphia on Wednesday night, performing the first of two concerts at Citizens Bank Park, with the second scheduled for Friday, August 23.

“The Boss” and the E Street Band were scheduled to perform in Philadelphia more than a year ago, but the concerts were postponed due to Springsteen’s health issues.

Excited fans flocked to see the 74-year-old music legend perform Wednesday and posted numerous clips from the concert on social media. One of those clips was a slightly awkward but funny moment that was posted by John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Springsteen, a New Jersey native, performed the title track from his album “Wrecking Ball.” The song includes lyrics referencing the New York Giants and the Meadowlands Arena, where the Giants played from 1976 to 2010.

“Now my home is here in these Meadowlands. Where the mosquitoes grow as big as airplanes. Where the blood flows. The arena is full and the Giants are playing their games,” Springsteen sang.

Naturally, the Philadelphia sports fans attending the concert did what they do best when they hear about a rival team. They booed. Loudly. Springsteen smiled and asked, “Eagles?” as the boos quickly turned to cheers. He then laughed and continued playing.

No harm, no foul, Bruce. But you better sing “Streets of Philadelphia” the next time you perform in New York or Dallas. It’s only fair.
