The senior vaccine official at the Food and Drug Administration who was forced to leave the agency announced its resignation Friday and brutally criticized its boss to the Department of Health and Social Services: Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Dr. Peter Marks has long directed the regulation of vaccines by the FDA. He became particularly well known during the first Trump administration for his work with Operation Warp Speed, which was credited with the rapid development of COVVI-19 vaccines.
Marks wrote in his letter of resignation “It has become clear that truth and transparency are not desired by the secretary, but he rather wishes the subordinate confirmation of his disinformation and his lies.”
In response, an HHS official has published a statement that if the brands “do not want to be behind the restoration of science to its gold standard and promote radical transparency, then it has no place at the FDA under the strong direction of Secretary Kennedy”.
The sudden departure occurs when the concern has increased among many public health experts on measures involving vaccines under Kennedy, which questioned the safety and efficiency of vaccines. An independent meeting of the Vaccines Advisory Committee was canceled, the National Institutes of Health ended research on the resistance and disinformation of vaccines and a vaccination critic was chosen to conduct a controversial study on vaccines and autism – a link that has long been demystified.

The announcement was greeted by many in the scientific community.
“Peter Marks is one of the most brilliant and dedicated scientists and officials,” wrote Dr. Ashish Jha, the dean of the Brown University School of Public Health Health who was COVI-19 response coordinator of President Biden-19.
Marks said he left the agency with “a heavy heart”.
“I leave behind him a personnel of professionals who are undoubtedly the most devoted to the protection and promotion of public health of any group of people I have met,” he wrote.
But then Mark made caution: “The efforts currently put forward by some on the harmful effects on the health of vaccination are concern.”
The brands have cited a particular concern with regard to the epidemic of measles in progress in Texas, which has now increased to at least 400 cases. Measles can cause a long list of potentially serious complications and vaccines offer solid and safe protection, said Marks.

“Presentation of confidence in well -established vaccines that have respected the high quality, safety and efficiency standards that have been in place for decades at the FDA is irresponsible, detrimental to public health, and a clear danger to health, the security of our country” and safety, “Marks wrote.
Marks says he was willing to work with the secretary and hopes that “the unprecedented aggression against scientific truth that had an impact on public health in our nation ends so that the citizens of our country can fully benefit from the extent of the progress of the medical sciences”.
