Pep Guardiola has joked about how his golden touch has translated to the small screen – after appearing on hit US TV show Ted Lasso.
The Manchester City boss who is chasing the triplets appeared in the latest episode of the award-winning series which depicts an American football manager, played by Jason Sudeikis, moving on to manage the Premier League.
But, even though Guardiola suggested he was hired for his on-screen role to boost the show’s popularity, the real reason was more of a family affair.
“Ted Lasso needed people like me to make the show better so they would be successful,” the town manager joked.
“But as a family, we are very big fans. My granddaughter Valentina and my wife love us watching the show, especially the first season.

“And when they came and asked me to make an appearance, I said why not. I was able to meet the actors and, after a game here at the Etihad, they came and we talked again. It was nice.’
City’s arrangement with the Apple TV show saw the latest episode built around Lasso’s AFC Richmond visiting the Etihad to face Guardiola’s City in an eventual title decider.
The episode will give City massive exposure around the world and, according to Guardiola, is a sign of the huge progress the club has made on and off the pitch.
“Of course we’re so proud, honestly,” he said.
“To come and do that and all over the world people know who Man City is. These are the small steps that show how the club operated in the past.
