Recently, I asked the BuzzFeed community to share a casting choice that ruined an otherwise perfectly good TV show for them. Members of the BuzzFeed community DID NOT hold back their opinions. I’m sure people don’t want to hate the actors listed, but sometimes bad casting can derail a series for the viewer:
1.
“Kristen Schaal in 30 Rock…I’m sure she’s a lovely person, but her character is a one-trick pony. She ruined the last few episodes she was in. I fast forward as I rewatch them. “

“Elizabeth Keene in Blacklist. She is so inconsistent and just a forced character. It’s so profound that a character like her is in the same show as other characters and it’s a tragedy that James Spader’s performance as Ray Reddington had to constantly confront her. »

“The actor who plays Pablo Escobar in Narcos. Even though he looks like him, he’s Brazilian and his accent is very distracting, especially in a series primarily in Spanish and set in Colombia. Why they couldn’t find a COLOMBIAN (or at least Spanish-speaking) actor puzzles me.”

5.
“I love Catherine Tate, but when she joined The officeI couldn’t help but think that the series was starting to go downhill pretty quickly. I’m pretty sure the writers even admitted that Nellie’s character was poorly written as well. »

“Cosmo Jarvis as John Blackthorne in Shogun. I loved the original show with Richard Chamberlain. I really wanted to like the new one too, but found Cosmo completely unappealing. I never finished the show.”
7.
“Ed Sheeran in Game Of Thrones made I want to leave the series. It was very weird and random. He didn’t have many lines, but I couldn’t pay attention to the character he was playing. Very strange.”

“I loved the show Empire of the promenadebut I really felt like Steve Buscemi, who played the main character, was miscast. Nucky Thompson is supposed to be charming and charismatic, which I didn’t think he pulled off. I think he’s a great actor, but he’s not suitable for this role.”

“I like Mulder, but enough time has passed to admit that David Duchovny is not. Exactly an active power? Someone else in this role could have elevated the series to legend among non-X-File fans. »
10.
“Eliza Duschku in dolls house. She’s not a bad actress, but she doesn’t have the versatility the role demands. There were scenes and episodes where she had to quickly change personalities and play three different people at the same time, but she wasn’t really believable. This was especially noticeable when sharing scenes with co-stars like Amy Acker, Enver Gjokaj, and Dichen Lachman, who absolutely had the range she lacked, and yet she was cast as the lead. »

“I think Selena Gomez’s wooden acting in Only murders in the building is a casting error.”

“Grey’s Anatomy has had some terrible casting choices over the years, but my least favorite is Caterina Scorsone as Amelia Shepherd. The acting wasn’t great and the role was terrible. She was the first of many reasons I stopped watching.”
13.
“Matt Lucas single-handedly RUINED The Great British Pastry In my opinion. I couldn’t stand seeing him looking at the camera and the bakers waiting to be recognized as “funny.” For the two episodes I watched with him, it even seemed like the actors didn’t know what to do with his comments other than a reality TV version of customer service laughter (iykyk). I love this show, and it was a shame to no longer have it in my programming even though he was the host.”

“Rob Lowe in 911: Lone Star. The show revolves around him so much that it makes an already somewhat cheesy show not work well for me. Almost every scene is about him, and every heroic act is performed by him – add his inauthentic jokes about acting and the health guru’s diet, and he takes me out of every scene he monopolizes. We barely know the other characters.”

“I know I’m going to get some hate for this, but Rob Lowe Parks and Recreation. He just wasn’t funny and didn’t fit in with the rest of the cast.”

16.
“Chris Rock as Frank Gathers Empire. The mere mention of his name would send Lucius and Cookie into a state of fear, but when he arrived, I feel like Rock wasn’t embodying the menacing figure he was supposed to be. »

“When Dick Sargent replaced Dick York as Darrin Delighted. There was no chemistry between him and Elizabeth Montgomery. It was a cold fish.”
—Anonymous, 68 years old
18.
“Kirsten Vangness as Penelope Garcia in Criminal minds. I have a quirky scientific personality and I often like that, but she doesn’t. I stopped watching the show because it was so boring.”
19.
“I know everyone loved David Tennent Good omensbut he took a young character trying to be cool and turned him into an aging rocker trying to retain his youth. That’s a horrible look on anyone. I love the actor, but he was too old for the role.”
—candlesundae454

“The casting of Mirren Mack as Merwyn in The Witcher: Blood Origin was a bad choice. She didn’t have the presence to fill this role, and it caused the entire limited series to fail. Every scene with her kind of ruined everything for me.”
—Anonymous, 54 years old
21.
“Patton Oswalt as Morpheus’ raven in Sandman did a very good job, but his voice is so distinctive that it really took me out of the story; I kept thinking, oh, it’s Patton Oswalt. It’s not his fault, but maybe someone less recognizable would have been better.”
22.
“I wouldn’t say the show was completely ruined, but when Noah Centineo replaced Jake T. Austin on The Fosters. I thought it was pointless and they didn’t even look alike. However, I watched the show until the very end, and I watched Good problem After. The change bored me.”

23.
“Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina in Chilling Adventures of Sabrinathe Netflix reboot of Sabrina, the apprentice witch. Everyone seems to fit right in, but Kiernan Shipka just arrived from a Broadway musical. I can’t stand how overworked she is; she sticks out like a sore thumb, and nothing she does seems believable. »

“Dustin Hoffman as Giovanni de Medici in Medici. What were they thinking? Every scene he was in was ruined for me.”
25.
And finally, “Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak in Arrow. In choosing someone as comically talented as her, the showrunners decide to go with a non-canon ship. It ruined the effectiveness of the show. »
