The academy has just implemented some new rules for the Oscars, and people wonder why one in particular was not compulsory in the first place.

“The members of the Academy must now watch all the nominated films in each category to be eligible to vote during the last round for the Oscars,” the official press release said. This rule was confirmed on Monday by the Governors’ Council of the Government.

Currently, proof of a film has been watched is followed in the Academy’s screening room – an internal service where the members of the vote can project titles.
“There is also a form” seen elsewhere “that the members will have to submit before the finals vote”, a press release sent to Entertainment Weekly Read. “If you have not seen a title, the price category will be inaccessible (grayed out). For specialty categories, we will always need to view preliminaries and names as usual. For this year, we will now need to visualize in the final voting for all categories and all voting members.”

During its 97 years of existence, it has never been a requirement for members of the Academy of Arts and Cinema Sciences (AMPAS) to watch all the nominated films in a category before voting. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the members were invited not to vote if they had not examined all the candidates. The process finally followed an “Honorary System”.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that we have heard similar rumors on their unorthodox voting system. Anonymous voters have broken their silence in recent years, revealing their reason For having left certain films not displayed or even completely ignored.

“I am disappointed because I have not seen The substance Or I’m still there Again. The first DuneI couldn’t pass; I do not rush into three hours of Dune. There is still time to reassess, but I really had trouble, “said a director at Entertainment Weekly.

While a casting director added: “I have not seen The brutalist Again. I plan to see it, and according to the little that I have seen (already), it is similar to The pianistAnd (Adrien Brody) has already obtained his Oscar for this. So maybe someone else deserves a chance (for the best actor). “”

It’s really disturbing, and I’m really surprised that their voting system has been able to prosper for so long without making a stir in Hollywood. The bias and contempt for these anonymous quotes are alarming. It also makes me wonder if the actors were fully aware of what was happening behind the scenes before attending the Oscars each year.

I’m sorry, if I put my blood, my sweat and my tears in a project, I submitted it to consideration for an Oscars, attended the prestigious ceremony, lost in the category, then finally discovered that the people in charge of the vote did not even look at my project, I would be annoyed.
