Pensions: more than 6,000 demonstrators in Brest, tear gas fired in front of the sub-prefecture [En images] – Brest

4:20 p.m. The security forces fired tear gas from the compound of the sub-prefecture. Thursday night’s scenario seems to be repeating itself.

4:10 p.m. In Brest, the procession broke up. After a call to go to the office of deputy Jean-Charles Larsonneur, the demonstrators finally headed for the sub-prefecture.

4:05 p.m. The procession arrived at boulevard Cléenceau. Tram traffic remains interrupted. Apart from a few tags, no incidents to report.

4 p.m. The unions announce 8,000 demonstrators. The procession approaches Avenue Clemenceau for a return to Place Liberté.

3:55 p.m. More than 6,000 people parade in Brest, without overflow.

3:45 p.m. A few musicians add atmosphere to the heart of the procession.

3 p.m. The procession rushes rue Jean-Jaurès, to the Octroi. He will then take rue Yves-Collet and rue Clemenceau. There are once again several thousand people in Brest, even if the mobilization seems less than last Saturday.

2:50 p.m. “The government, by passing the pension law by force, assumes responsibility for social anger. The executive, by this denial of democracy, is weakened and discredited“, proclaims the inter-union.

2:30 p.m. “After using 49.3, the fight continues! “: the slogan of the inter-union in the fight against the pension reform project is clear, two days after the decision of Elisabeth Borne to go through article 49.3 to impose its text.

This is the third demonstration of the week in Brest (the tenth since the start of the movement). In addition to various blocking operations that punctuated the period, more than 10,000 people marched on Wednesday, then more than 1,500 people, during a demonstration organized at the last minute on Thursday evening.

The climate has also been slightly tense in recent days in Brest, with some spats within the procession on Wednesday, between traditional trade unions and more radical young people, and some fires and damage committed during the parade Thursday evening.

This new mobilization is a local initiative, before a national call to strike next Thursday. And these Saturday mobilizations, in Brest, are generally less followed than during the week: some 8,000 people were thus mobilized on Saturday March 11, far from the 23,000 identified four days earlier.
