April 21 (UPI) – The last of us Actor Pedro Pascal says he is “in the active denial” on the torsion that occurs for his character, Joel, in season 2, episode 2, of the adaptation of the video game.

Based on games The last of us And The last of us part IIThe HBO series follows Joel (Pascal) and the teenager Ellie (Bella Ramsey) while they are trying to survive a post-apocalyptic world where people are transformed into zombie-type creatures by a crawling fungus.
In the final of season 1, Ellie, potentially the only person sheltered from the disease, should undergo surgery that would potentially produce a remedy. But when Joel discovers that Ellie would be killed during the procedure, he kills the surgeon and the faction known as the Fireflies.
Season 1 ends while the pair arrives safely in Jackson, Wy., But, because Ellie had not been aware during Kelling’s madness, she is not aware of what happened.

Season 2 presents to viewers Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), whose father was the surgeon killed by Joel and who seeks to avenge his death.
In “Through the Valley”, which broadcast on Sunday, Abby promulgated his revenge by killing Joel before Ellie.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pascal said that he was “in the active denial” of his stay in the program at his end.
“I realize it more and more as I get older, I find myself denying that everything is over. I know that I am forever linked to so many members of the experience and that I must simply see them in different circumstances, but I never go in the circumstances to play Joel on Joel on The last of us. And, no, I don’t spend much time thinking about it because it makes me sad, “he told the point of sale.

He added that he “always bypassed” his feelings about the death of his character and the subsequent absence of the show.
“I guess it was the strange thing to go because I felt so linked to everyone in the show after crossing the glove of season 1 together, not only with Bella, but with the whole distribution and crew. So having this farewell was very sad for me, and I had such a physical manifestation, a violent mirror.”

In addition, the showrunners of the series Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann spoke with Variety to decide when Joel dies.
“In the end, I think we needed to settle in the show,” said Druckmann. “Because even in the game, there is like an hour or something before arriving at this moment. But we also knew that it must have been early enough, because it is the incentive incident for the story. So yes, we always choose each permutation, but later, it was what we were part of the season.”
Mazin added that they did not want to torture the fans.
“If people know that it happens, they will start to feel tormented. And people who do not know that it will happen that it happens, because people are going to talk about the fact that it has not yet arisen. Our instinct was to make sure that when we did, it seemed natural in history and was not a metal-function to disturb us,” he said.
Pascal shared a photo on the tray with Dever on Instagram after the episode.

Pascal discussed his link with Dever in a featurette “Inside Episode 2” published by HBO, saying “It is very ironic that something so violent and tragic between his characters can immediately bind you to the actor”.
