Silver Surfer by Julia Garner, alias Shalla-Bal, was finally unveiled in the last trailer of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”.
The film, which features Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn as a holder quartet, takes place in Manhattan from the 1960s at the time of the release of the first comic strip of the characters. The feature will serve as an original story for Reed Richards de Pascal, alias M. Fantastic, Sue Storm by Vanessa Kirby, alias the Invisible Woman, Quinn’s Johnny Storm, alias the Human Torch and Ben Grimm de Moss-Bachrach, alias the thing. Ralph Ineson also plays the villain, with Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne and John Malkovich Co-star.
Matt Shakman (“Wandavision”) directs “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” of a script by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. This is the first “Fantastic Four” iteration since the 20th century agreement with Marvel. Before the sale, the first film “Fantastic Four” was released in 2005, followed by the 2007 suite “The Silver Surfer”. The franchise was relaunched in 2015 with the autonomous film “Fantastic Four”.
The star of “First Steps”, Quinn, recently told Entertainment Weekly that his interpretation of the human torch was different from previous franchise payments. The character was originally (and most famous) played by Chris Evans in 2005.
“He is a man who leads with a lot of bravado, who can sometimes be an affront. But he is also funny,” said Quinn about the character. “Myself and (Marvel Studios Boss) Kevin (Feige) spoke of previous iterations of him and where we are culturally. He was described as feminizing guys, the devil-May, but is it sexy these days? I don’t think this version of Johnny is less insensitive to the feelings of others.
Feige also said in an interview in 2023 with Entertainment Weekly that the film “First Steps” will be a “pillar” of the MCU franchise.
“” Fantastic Four “is the foundation of everything that came in comics,” said Feige during the announcement of the project for the first time. “There have certainly been versions (on the screen), but never living in the narration of the MCU.
