SAN DIEGO –
The medical examiner’s office this week identified a 33-year-old pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing a highway near Balboa Park.
Joseph Robert Held Lyons died shortly after motorists began calling 911 the morning of March 17 to report seeing a man walking in the Central Division and on the expressway of State Route 163, near the Interstate 5, officials said.
According to a CHP traffic incident log, officers were discussing setting up a road block in the neighborhood when Lyons was apparently struck by a vehicle and suffered fatal injuries.
No further information was immediately available.
