Pedestrian killed in Vista crash

An SUV driver struck and killed a man in Vista on Friday night, sheriff’s officials said.

The collision happened near the intersection of Taylor Street and Cresthaven Drive around 8 p.m.

The victim was crossing the road just east of the intersection when the driver, heading west on Taylor in a Ford Escape, hit him, sheriff’s officials said. The man was taken to hospital where he died.

The driver pulled over after the accident and cooperated with deputies, according to the department. It is not known whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The Vista Sheriff’s Substation is investigating the incident.
