NBCUniversal’s long-awaited restructuring is now official.
Donna Langley, president of NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios, and Matt Strauss, president of NBCUniversal Media Group, have restructured their teams following their promotions last year.
For Langley, the two biggest pieces are Pearlena Igbokwe becoming president of television studios, NBC Entertainment & Peacock Scripted and Frances Berwick, who ran NBC, becoming president of Bravo & Peacock Unscripted.
Igbokwe’s promotion — she will continue to lead Universal Studio Group — is no surprise given that the industry has been talking about NBCU’s return to a vertically integrated network/studio model for about six months. Igbokwe will now oversee NBC Entertainment, including scripted, unscripted, late-night, live events and specials, as well as all scripted originals for Peacock.
Berwick’s role is a little more surprising. She will oversee Bravo and Peacock’s unscripted programming, including documentaries, true crime and pickets such as The traitors And love island as well as first-run syndication. Berwick has a long history at Bravo, starting as vice president of programming before helping build it into the powerhouse reality network it has become.
This comes after Deadline revealed last night that NBCU unscheduled chief Corie Henson was leaving as part of the restructuring.
Elsewhere, at Langley, Liz Jenkins, in her role as commercial director, will now oversee content strategy, TV acquisitions, commercial strategy and operations across the entertainment and studio groups. Jenny Storms becomes chief marketing officer of NBCUniversal Television & Streaming and will lead brand strategy, integrated marketing, media and consumer engagement for all entertainment and sports content, including branded content and marketing for Peacock.
Jimmy Horowitz is president of business affairs and operations; Pete Levinsohn is president of global distribution; Lissa Freed is responsible for human resources and culture; Evan Langweiler is executive vice president, global communications; Chris Miller is general counsel and Adam Moysey is chief financial officer.
“This new structure will bring together our television studios, NBC Entertainment, Bravo and Peacock programming into one cohesive organization, bolstered by fully integrated marketing and content strategy teams. It is designed to improve collaboration, streamline decision-making and amplify our ability to deliver world-class television experiences to audiences around the world,” Langley said in a note.
On the Strauss side, Mark Marshall remains president, Global Advertising & Partnerships.
Shannon Willett will take on a new commercial role as Chief Commercial Officer of Media Group, leading Peacock’s day-to-day strategy and execution, driving subscriber growth and competitive positioning, as well as business-to-business initiatives for Media Group and Peacock .
Matt Schnaars assumes a senior role as president of platform distribution and partnerships, leading a new team that brings together content distribution, affiliate relationships and strategic partnerships across NBC, Peacock, Bravo, Telemundo and various FAST channels.
