Paul Walter Hauser Apologizes for ‘Reckless’ Vin Diesel Comment

Paul Walter Hauser would like to apologize for a comment he made about Vin Diesel in a recent interview, in which he implied that the latter wasn’t known for being “punctual and approachable.”

In a lengthy Instagram post shared Sunday, Hauser wrote: “A few weeks ago, I made a random comment about Vin Diesel. It started out as somewhat humorous, but turned into an attack on him for behavior I had heard about multiple times and from multiple sources.”

He continued: “I had done a night shoot on a Friday, slept for an hour, then flew to LA from ATL at 6am to do a full day of press for Inside Out 2“I was exhausted and in my tired state I opened my mouth and made a reckless and unnecessarily mean comment. That comment was recorded and went viral.”

THE Black bird The Emmy winner is referring to a moment in a recent interview with CinemaBlend, when he responded to the outlet comparing his voiceover work in Inside Out 2 to Diesel’s in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Please don’t say that. I like to think of myself as punctual and approachable,” Hauser said with a laugh. “Sorry, I love people, but when I hear stories about Hollywood actors who are highly paid and mistreat people, I constantly call them out. And it’s great.”

In his apology, Hauser conceded that while he is “certainly annoyed by some of the behavior” he has heard about or witnessed in Hollywood, and while “revealing some people’s sexual orientation to some degree can be momentarily satiating,” he is sorry for the remark.

“I don’t feel that way anymore and I’m truly sorry for opening my mouth and not showing love to Vin, who I don’t know and have never met,” he said. “It’s not fair of me to make judgments like that, and even if some of those things were true, it’s mean to yell them out and playfully attack someone.”

He continued: “As a self-proclaimed Christian, I need to do a better job of loving people and not trying to ‘right a wrong’ or allow my ego to come to the fore through some sort of verbal inflection. That doesn’t make sense in our culture and can hurt other people.”

He ended his note by tagging Diesel and apologizing one last time, and thanked the Fast and Furious star for “entertaining so many people and making them happy,” noting that ultimately he’s “trying to do the same thing.”

“It’s time for me to shut up. Sometimes I let myself get carried away by idiocy,” he concluded.
