The capabilities of the Pittsburgh Pirates launcher, Paul Skenes, on the mound, are sufficiently electric – but it is his simple public figure who made him attract even more to fans of pirates who have been blowing for a long time.
Example: the reaction of Skenes to Thursday shot from Manager Derek Shelton. Asked about the dismissal, the launcher refused to chew the words.
“Unfortunately, I was not shocked,” said Skenes via KDKA-FM in Pittsburgh. “In the end, we are (12-26), anything. Someone must be held responsible. Unfortunately, at the moment, it’s him.”
Skenes remained a leading launcher this year, starting 3-4 with an MPM of 2.77 and 47 stick withdraws in 48 2/3 sleeves. However, Pittsburgh is far from being asserted – and a base of fans that has experienced three playoffs in the past 33 years is short of patience.

“I do not know if it corrects the root of the problem, it is that we must play better,” Skenes told journalists. “It’s messaging today. It’s the message for a bit now.”
