Footy commentator Paul Kent smiled for the camera as he returned to his inner-west Sydney home on Wednesday, just hours after it was revealed he had been hospitalized with serious injuries sustained during an alleged street fight Saturday night.

The NRL 360 host was seen thrown into a tree and hitting his head against a gutter in a video that went viral on Sunday, with footage allegedly showing him having a physical confrontation with a man outside the Three Weeds Hotel in Rozelle.

On Tuesday, Kent’s lawyer, George Elias, revealed that his client was hospitalized with up to five broken ribs and an apparently collapsed lung after the alleged fight.

Daily Mail Australia photographed the 54-year-old smiling as he arrived at his Lilyfield home alongside Elias on Wednesday morning.

The couple entered the house without making any comment.

On Tuesday, Elias said his client had been “in the hospital since the incident” and added: “I’m just concerned for his health and well-being.”

On Sunday, Daily Mail Australia captured exclusive photos of a doctor entering the house to treat Kent, who had several friends – including notorious former football player and convicted criminal John Elias – at the time.

The revelation of Kent’s hospitalization came just hours after the 35-year-old man he allegedly fought revealed what looked like painful head trauma in a confrontation photo.

The unnamed man was charged with affray following the incident after he voluntarily went to Balmain police station at around 6.45pm on Sunday before being taken to Newtown police station in the city’s west .

He has been released on bail and is due to appear in court on June 7. He is represented by renowned criminal lawyer, Chris Murphy.

Murphy announced he would take on the case with a tweet early Tuesday morning, then followed up with two more messages about the case.

“Last night, at 10:33 p.m., April 29, I took action for one of the two accused of affray, the man walking backwards, featured in the Paul Kent video circulating on social media . I will defend the case,” Murphy wrote.

“My client was out to dinner with his wife and another couple. He does not consume alcoholic beverages.

In the clip, Kent can be heard calling the other man a “dog face” before they get into a physical confrontation which spills across the road from the ceremony venue.

Footage shows the 54-year-old allegedly being thrown into a tree and landing head-first in the gutter before getting up from the ground.

Other men could be seen trying to intervene in the alleged confrontation.

Kent, who was fired from the network for nine months after being accused of assaulting and strangling his ex-girlfriend, had only been reinstated as co-host of Fox’s NRL 360. ‘in February after being acquitted by the court.

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia on Sunday, a spokesperson for Fox Sports and the Daily Telegraph said: “Fox Sports presenter and News Corp Australia columnist Paul Kent has been stood down pending an investigation immediately.”
