Mahomes, discouraged after launching two interceptions in the 40-22 demoralizing defeat, was seen exchanging handshakes with teammates along the bench in the fourth quarter to the Superdome of New Orleans.
Starting with the wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster and ending with an embrace of the long-standing favorite target Travis Kelce, Mahomes descended the leaders’ bench in the last moments of the game to share its appreciation for everyone’s contributions.
Perine, however, was clearly left suspended when Mahomes exceeded him to kiss Kelce, who had four catches for only 39 yards on Sunday.

A speaker criticized Mahomes for “very poor leadership”, while another opted for a play on words: “not cool mahomie”.
There was even an assertion that Mahomes was “always crazy” to go 0-3 to Texas Tech against the Alma Mater of Perine, Oklahoma.
But while Mahomes was torn as an “con” that “ divided “the locker room, many, many other commentators estimated that Mahomes was unfairly offbeat. After all, he thanked his teammates for another strong season.
“Mahomes showed a great team spirit with his teammates,” wrote a fan.
Many have made the obvious link with Kelce, the teammate Mahomes is perhaps most associated after winning three Super Bowls together.
“He jumped Perine because Kelce was next to him and he probably already locked his eyes with his best,” wrote a fan on X. “I have already done that before. It happens.
This fan then referred to a rumor interaction between Perine and Mahomes which could explain the situation.
“According to reports, he has already escaped Perine,” wrote this person.

Whatever the circumstances, Mahomes can be forgiven if he was distracted. The MVP quarter of the Super Bowl completed 21 of the 32 passes for three affected and a pair of choice, but spent much of the night dodging a rush to ferocious passes.
Without too much – if necessary – Blitzing, Philadelphia still managed to generate significant pressure, which led to six bags and at least one of the two interceptions of Mahomas, one of which was returned by Cooper Dejean for a touchdown .
A distraught Mahomas took the blame for the loss of Sunday on X, writing: “I leave you all today. I will always continue to work and try to learn and be better for that.
Mahomes then thanked “God for every opportunity he gave me:” Before adding: “We will come back”.
