While Pat McAfee was heading for the ring for his match at WWE’s backlash Premium live event on Saturday evening, I couldn’t help but feel a pinch of disappointment.
Rather than wearing her signature black tank top, the ESPN star has put on a version of the WWE of her Indianapolis Colts jersey. But as the match started, McAfee removed his jersey, revealing not a black tank top, but rather his bare chest. At this point, my disappointment has dissipated. Only, it was not replaced by excitement, but rather fear in the name of the old bettor.
As a pure and hard fan of the professional struggle, I am well aware of the move of Gunther. And as such, I knew that it was only a matter of time until the former world champion of WWE heavy goods vehicles transforms McAfee’s chest into hamburger meat via its signature chops.
It did not take long for my prediction to be prophetic, Gunther emitting several chops open to the naked chest of his opponent during their competition. The professional struggle can be predetermined, but the movements are often very real. At the end of the day, there is not really a way to simulate a giant of 6 feet 4 inches and 251 pounds gullying your bare chest with an open palm.

McAfee has also slapped, as well as some places to highlight his innate athletics and his skills in Borde. The match, however, was largely a vehicle to restore Gunther as a dominant force after losing its world title in last month Wrestlemania 41With “The Ring General” overcoming the best efforts of McAfee – and the interference of Michael Cole – to win the competition with a sleeper.
It was not necessarily the best McAfee match – go back and watch his first competition against Adam Cole at NXT Takeover XXX – but it was his highest profile. And it would be difficult to argue that he did not give, finishing the scenario that started with Gunther stuffing the College gameday Star at night after Wrestlemania.
In recent weeks, McAfee turned out to be a promo of the Heduluva, helping to build the force test between him and Gunther in one of the BacklashThe most anticipated matches. After the competition, Gunther took the surprising step to recognize McAfee, which you would not have expected from one of the biggest heels in WWE.

We do not know if the display of respect was an indication that Gunther turns his face or if it was only a short time when he broke Kayfabe to thank McAfee for his efforts in the match and the quarrel. Anyway, he was not the only one to appreciate McAfee’s work on Saturday evening, because the passion of 38 years for the professional struggle was obvious for all those who witnessed it.
