The voice of Kamala Harris sounded in a congress room filled with Democratic militants in California, and she had a radiant smile.
But the former vice-president was not in the room where 4,000 party delegates gathered in Anaheim, California, to prepare for the elections of next year. Instead, she spoke to them through a three -minute video address that attracted lukewarm applause.
Since Ms. Harris returned home to California in January after losing the presidential race of last year, the Democrats wondered if she would present themselves to the post of governor in 2026. Her entry would shake the race, and many observers believe that she would be the first. But she made few public appearances and offered little indication of the way she looks.
His absence of the room in Anaheim this weekend took advantage of the State Party Convention as the pair of large video screens that wore his message. And that left many party activists wondering how much she was planning to run seriously.
Some said they were not sure they wanted her to enter the race. “I don’t think she should enter the governor’s campaign,” said Mark Gracyk, delegate of San Diego who works for a public water service. “The working class would say:” Oh, it is once again, it has the support of the elites. “”
Ms. Harris plans to decide by the end of the summer to run. It weighs other possibilities, including another presidential race in 2028 or withdrawing from electoral policy. A spokesperson for Ms. Harris did not respond to requests for comments from this article.
