Due to withdrawals, only Paris and Los Angeles were in the running to host the 2024 Olympic Games.

At the 131st IOC Session in 2017, Paris was named as host of the summer games after securing a competing agreement.

Paris has been awarded the 2024 games while Los Angeles will host the 2028 games.

This will be the third time that the French capital will host the Olympic Games, meaning it will become only the second city to do so after London.
