Paramore, Dua Lipa and more stars call for ceasefire in Israel-Hamas war

Paramore speaks out on the continuing violence in the war between Israel and Hamas following a deadly airstrike in the Gaza region over the weekend.

The Grammy-winning rock band took to their Instagram Stories on Wednesday to encourage their fans to donate to humanitarian aid organizations Save the Children and Doctors Without Borders. The group wrote that it “stands in solidarity with those calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire.”

“We do not believe that supporting our Palestinian friends and family is synonymous with anti-Semitism,” the group wrote. “We love our Jewish friends and family and pray for the safe return of the remaining hostages. That being said, we simply cannot support genocide.”

An Israeli airstrike on Sunday sparked a massive fire, killing 45 people at a tent camp in the Gaza Strip town of Rafah, sparking an outcry from world leaders who called for enforcement of a World Court order to stop the attack. An Israeli military spokesman said Tuesday that a secondary explosion likely sparked a fire that ignited nearby tents, not the initial strike.

The airstrike marks one of the deadliest incidents in the nearly eight-month-old war between Israel and Hamas, which began in October 2023 when the militant group Hamas launched a series of surprise attacks against Israel.

Other stars like Dua Lipa, Katy Perry and John Legend are lending their voices to the humanitarian crisis.

Dua Lipa urges fans to ‘show solidarity with Gaza’

Lipa, who has previously expressed support for a ceasefire, shared an Artists for Ceasefire graphic on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, according to Billboard and Rolling Stone. She included the hashtag “#AllEyesOnRafah” in the post.

“Burning children alive can never be justified,” Lipa wrote, according to media reports. “The whole world is mobilizing to end the Israeli genocide. Please show solidarity with Gaza.”

Kehlani criticizes artists who do not speak out on the war between Israel and Hamas

In an Instagram video posted Monday, Kehlani criticized music industry peers who have refrained from publicly discussing the war between Israel and Hamas.

“We don’t sell out shows without A CROWD FULL OF PEOPLE,” Kehlani wrote in the post’s caption. “Songs can’t be ranked without PEOPLE. Trends can’t evolve without PEOPLE. You don’t draw the line at babies being decapitated or people being burned alive after seven months of many other atrocities?”

She added: “(I don’t care) about the deployment, the formula, the strategy, the algorithm at this point. I implore (YOU) TO BE PEOPLE. BE A (expletive) HUMAN BEING .”

Jenna Ortega denounces lack of ceasefire after Rafah airstrike

After last weekend’s Rafah airstrike, Jenna Ortega highlighted the importance of a ceasefire by sharing an idyllic photo of what appears to be a Gazan family on Instagram.

“Masses are debating a ceasefire while thousands and thousands of children continue to be massacred,” Ortega wrote Tuesday. “Where is humanity.”

Katy Perry joins call for ‘immediate ceasefire’ in Israel-Hamas war

On Wednesday, Perry reposted a graphic from the humanitarian organization UNICEF on Instagram. The graphic contained a message calling for “an immediate ceasefire, the unconditional release of all hostages and an end to the senseless killings of children.”

“A military siege and ground incursion in Rafah, Gaza, poses a catastrophic risk to the children sheltering there,” reads the caption of Perry’s rebroadcast. “Many children camped in Rafah have been repeatedly displaced and lost their homes, parents and loved ones. Thousands of them are injured, malnourished, traumatized or living with disabilities.

“They need to be protected, as do the few remaining basic services and infrastructure they need to survive.”

Bella Hadid pays tribute to Palestinian heritage and draws attention to ‘genocide’ in Gaza

Bella Hadid wrote an emotional post on Instagram on Tuesday, in which she encouraged her fans to stay informed about the Israel-Hamas conflict and its impact on the Palestinian people.

The post also featured a photo of Hadid wearing a red and white dress paying homage to the Keffiyeh, a traditional headscarf in Palestinian culture. “Even though I still have to go to work, even despite this horror, carrying our culture makes me a proud Palestinian (and) I want the world to continue to see Palestine, wherever we go.”

“If you don’t know what’s happening in Gaza right now, watch my stories (and find other stories leading to Palestinians on the ground) and learn about the ongoing occupation and genocide happening NOW in Gaza ” Hadid wrote. . “Do not be insensitive to the horror endured by the Palestinian people.”

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen donate $200,000 in humanitarian aid

In an Instagram post Tuesday, Legend said he and his wife Chrissy Teigen each donated $100,000 to Save the Children and joined the aid organization in its demand for a “cease the -definitive fire”.

“Nowhere is safe in Gaza,” Legend wrote. “Children are being killed at devastating rates, entire families are being wiped out. The worst-case scenario is becoming a reality. Children and their families need more than words, they need action.”

He concluded: “There is no alternative. (A ceasefire) is the only way to allow the safe delivery of humanitarian aid and ensure the release of all hostages remaining.”
