Following its meteoric rise to success earlier this year, Palworld unexpectedly became one of the most played games of all time on Steam, with over 15 million copies sold in its first month and generating $500 million in revenue. The game has since fallen off as players have moved on to other titles, which is what the developers expected and even encouraged players not to feel bad for leaving the game while waiting for new content. But the recent summer update added a lot of new content to Palworld, leading to an 868% increase in players.

According to Steamdb, Palworld had only 13,990 players on Steam before the Summer Update. After the Summer Update, that number jumped to 135,480, an increase of 767%. This number will undoubtedly be great news for the studio and shows that the game still has an audience hungry for new content.

With the massive success of Palworld on PC and Xbox, there has been talk that a PlayStation port could be on the way. Don’t expect it to be available on Nintendo Switch, but not because of its similarities to Pokémon. But for now, PC and Xbox players can check out the new Sakurajima update, which includes a whole new island to explore and catch friends on. PVP is finally here as Palworld now has an Arena mode that pits players against each other, and the level cap has been increased to 55, which players already find intimidating due to the steep XP curve.

For everything that happened to the game in the new update, check out our Palworld Sakurajima patch notes here.
