Palace shares update on Kate Middleton’s return to royal duties

As the world waits for Kate Middleton to return to the royal spotlight, it appears there is still time before the Princess of Wales returns to her usual schedule of public appearances, state dinners and charity work. In a statement shared with the BBC, Kensington Palace explained that Kate would not return to work until she gets the all-clear from her medical staff.

“The princess is not expected to return to work until her medical team has given the OK,” a spokesperson said.

Earlier this year, royal fans hoped Kate would be back on her feet as the palace released an official report on her work with the Early Years Centre. According to The telegraphKate was working from home with her boss in March, just before sharing the news of her cancer diagnosis and subsequent preventive chemotherapy.

The rare statement from the palace comes as Kate’s husband Prince William told well-wishers that she was “doing very well” at various events since returning to his normal duties as a working royal.

Middleton launched the Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood three years ago and Kensington Palace noted that the cause is close to her heart and will continue to be.

“Early childhood will continue to be at the heart of its public work,” added the palace spokesperson.

Christian Guy, executive director of the project, added that Kate was happy to see the charity continuing its work while she healed. He noted that Kate was “excited” about the foundation’s campaign and pleased that it would “continue while she recovers.”

Talk to Online mailA royal insider confirmed that Kate had been kept up to date with everything that was happening with the Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood initiative and working group, which brings together Aviva, the Co-operative Group, Deloitte, Iceland Foods, IKEA UK and Ireland, the LEGO Group, NatWest Group and Unilever UK to find ways for businesses to champion early childhood development.

“The Princess of Wales has been the driving force behind the Business Task Force,” the statement said. “She has been kept informed since the task force was established, and she has read the report and been informed of it.”
