Pakistani students ‘kidnapped by human traffickers’ in Turkey

Islamabad: Pakistani officials reportedly advised their students in Turkey to focus on their studies and never pay attention to offers from any gangs after videos of youngsters being held in captivity in Turkey emerged on social media, according to reports.

The activities of a human trafficking gang involved in kidnapping and extorting Pakistani students in Turkey have been uncovered following the release of videos, ARY News reported.

One of the Pakistani students is Noman Altaf, 17, from Khanewal. The gang allegedly abducted him under the pretext of offering him a transfer to Europe and Athens for a better future and were then extorted by his family.

Besides Noman, up to eight other Pakistani students faced similar problems in Turkey, ARY News reported.

The victims were first kidnapped and later the kidnappers sent their videos to demand extortion from their families.

On the other hand, Pakistani officials have advised students in Turkey to focus on their studies and never pay attention to gang offers to avoid facing such a situation.
