Golf influencer Paige Spiranac slammed Zach Johnson after the former US Ryder Cup captain was caught angrily telling Masters fans to “fuck off” on Friday.
Johnson, who led the U.S. team at last year’s Ryder Cup in Rome, had a difficult second round at Augusta National.
He was trying to avoid a double bogey on the 12th hole when he missed a putt by about 10 feet.
After walking to his ball and hitting it from point-blank range for a triple bogey, a wave of applause emerged from the patrons gathered around the green.
Exasperated by this gesture, he angrily shouted “f*** off” and this was clearly picked up by nearby microphones.

She wrote: “Augusta customers are incredibly supportive and mild mannered.

Speaking after his round, Johnson apologized and insisted he was swearing at himself out of frustration.
Spiranac was unimpressed with Johnson’s behavior and took to social media to criticize him.
He said: ‘After my putt for double bogey? Or after my putt for the triple – I guess it really doesn’t matter. I don’t understand the situation at all. What do they say about what I did or said?
“That I insulted the customers? It’s laughable. It’s completely laughable. I don’t hear customers, number one.
“Number two, I just made a triple bogey on the 12th hole which is obviously going to make me miss the cut, which at the time I knew was quite sensitive in the sense that I had to continue to make pars.
“If I said something, which I’m not going to deny, especially if it’s on camera, one, I apologize, and two, it was entirely directed at me because I can’t hear anything behind me. Does that make sense?’
Johnson led the U.S. team in last year’s Ryder Cup in Rome, which they lost to Europe.
Johnson is a former Masters champion. He won the Green Jacket in 2007 after narrowly beating Tiger Woods and South African duo Retief Goosen and Rory Sabbatini.
The 48-year-old also won the Open in 2015 and has 26 victories as a professional golfer.
Despite his success, this isn’t the first time Johnson has faced golf fans this season.
At the typically noisy Waste Management Open in Phoenix in February, he was seen getting angry at a group for being too loud.
Although it’s unclear why the American became so enraged, he was filmed saying: “I’m just sick of this.” Just shut up!’
Speaking after his tour that day, Johnson said: “You’re hitting me at a very emotional time right now, so if I had to say if I’m going to come back, I’d probably say no. But at the same time, I don’t I have no idea.
