Outrage over Barstool Sports’ Ryan Whitney’s ‘disgusting’ and ‘tasteless’ X-rated post on Bruins’ win over Maple Leafs

Former NHL star Ryan Whitney found himself embroiled in a social media storm after an article about the NHL playoffs that fans called “disgusting” and in “bad taste.”

Whitney – who now works for Barstool Sports – posted an AI-generated photo of two bears on the ice, one of them – wearing a Bruins shirt – performing a sex act on another, who is crying and being dressed in Maple Leafs colors.

“Leafs fans, I feel for you guys. It’s not right”, Whitney wrote next to the messageto almost half a million followers.

Boston beat Toronto 3-1 on Saturday to take a 3-1 lead heading into Game 5 of the NHL playoffs.

Whitney played for the Penguins, Ducks and Oilers during his NHL career, after being drafted fifth overall by Pittsburgh in 2002.

He posted the AI ​​photo the day after the Bruins won Game 4. Nearly 48 hours later, it remains on the social network and has been viewed more than 11 million times.

This is despite the Barstool Sports podcaster facing backlash from fellow NHL fans, many of whom urged him to remove it.

“This is disgusting,” one wrote. “Consider removing that.” Disrespectful and in bad taste,” added another. “You will get fired,” warned a third X user.

Some fans defended Whitney’s sense of humor, but many others criticized her for her image.

“It’s not cool, man. It should be deleted,” wrote one X user, while another insisted: “Sexual assault is not a joke. It’s never a joke. Not now, not ever. Take it out and do better.
