‘Outer Range,’ Starring Josh Brolin, Canceled at Amazon

Prime Video will not return to Outdoor range.

The Amazon-owned streaming service has canceled the series, which featured a mix of Western and sci-fi stories, after two seasons. The news comes less than two months after the show’s second season binge-watched.

Outdoor range Josh Brolin stars as a Wyoming rancher who discovers a mysterious black void on his property, while struggling to keep his land out of the hands of a rival family with whom he has a long-standing feud. Starring Mogen Poots, Lili Taylor, Tamara Podemski, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza, Olive Abercrombie and Will Patton.

Outdoor range The series premiered on Prime Video in April 2022 and had a second season pick-up in October of that year. The series also changed showrunners at that time, with Charles Murray taking over from Zev Borow.

While not on par with the best Prime Video shows like To fall And Reacher, Outdoor range The first season has performed quite well for the streamer. Its first season spent five weeks on Nielsen’s top 10 streaming original series ranking, and the second season has three weeks on the ranking as of June 2 (the most recent week for which data is available).

The series was produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Plan B Entertainment. Murray executive produced the second season along with Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Ernest McNealey of Plan B, Brolin, Tony Krantz, Heather Rae and Jon Paré.
